69th BPSC Syllabus 2023
An Indian government organisation called the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) holds competitive exams to hire civil officials for the state of Bihar. The Preliminary Examination and the Main Examination are the two portions of the BPSC curriculum.
There are three phases of the BPSC Exam (Combined Competitive Exam):
- Prelims – 1 objective type paper for 150 marks
- Mains – 4 descriptive (1 qualifying + 3 merit ranking) for 1000 marks. Total marks in the exam will be of 1000 marks, where 100 marks will be qualifying, and only 900 will be considered for merit list.
- Interview – 120 marks
Preliminary Examination[ 150 marks]
The Preliminary Examination is a MCQ examination that consists of one paper of 150 marks. The paper is divided into two sections: General Studies and General Ability. Duration Of Paper Is 2 Hours
General Studies
The General Studies section of the Preliminary Examination will test the candidate's knowledge of the following topics:
- Indian Polity and Constitution
- Indian Economy
- Indian History
- General Science
- Current Affairs
- General Mental Ability
General Ability
The General Ability section of the Preliminary Examination will test the candidate's skills in the following areas:
- Comprehension
- Data Interpretation
- Logical Reasoning
- Numerical Ability
Marking scheme: There will be negative marking for all 150 questions in the Prelims exam. This means that for every wrong answer, 1/4 mark will be deducted from the candidate's total score.
Main Examination
The Main Examination is a written examination that consists of four papers. The papers are divided into the following sections:
- General Hindi
- General Studies 1
- General Studies 2
- Optional Subject
General Hindi [ 100 marks]
The General Hindi paper will test the candidate's knowledge of the following topics:
- Hindi Grammar
- Hindi Literature
- Hindi Composition
- Essay
Candidates must have a minimum score of 30% to pass the general Hindi qualifying exam.
Essay [ 30 marks]
The Essay paper will test the candidate's ability to write an essay on a given topic. The topic will be related to one of the following subjects:
- Indian Polity and Constitution
- Indian Economy
- Indian History
- General Science
- Current Affairs
- General Mental Ability
General Studies 1 [ 300 marks]
The General Studies 1 paper will test the candidate's knowledge of the following topics:
- Indian Art & Culture
- Modern History of India
- Contemporary events of national and international importance
- Statistical Analysis, diagrams and graphs
General Studies 2 [ 300 marks]
The General Studies 2 paper will test the candidate's knowledge of the following topics:
- Indian and Bihar Polity
- Indian and Bihar Economy
- Indian and Bihar Geography
- Role and impact of Science and Technology in the development of India and Bihar
Here Mostly Focus On Bihar Related Topics
Optional Subject [ 300 marks]
The candidate can choose one optional subject from the following list:
- Agriculture
- Botany
- Chemistry
- Commerce
- Economics
- English
- Geography
- History
- Law
- Mathematics
- Philosophy
- Political Science
- Psychology
- Public Administration
- Sanskrit
- Sociology
- Zoology
